Above, our friends at Endlesss partnered with us to show how you can kickstart your creative process with one of the twelve styles of Create, develop the idea with collaborators in Endlesss, and then bring everything into the DAW to build a track.
“Our team had a ton of fun shooting this video, and we’re sure you’ll have a ton of fun trying this process out yourself,” shares Tim Exile, a lifelong musician and the founder and CEO of Endlesss. “Anyone who’s fallen down one of the thousands of rabbit holes that today’s music tools offer knows that ultimately, music is play, not work. It’s an activity that allows us to express ourselves, develop skills, and connect and collaborate with like-minded people. What comes at the end is so much more than a track to upload to Spotify. It’s the celebration of a journey, and if we’ve shared that journey with others, it’s a celebration of friendship, too.”
Endlesss is a free-to-use collaborative music studio with built-in drums, synths, effects, and more. In the video, you can see how Tim uses it to collaborate on some vocal production and sound design with his friend, evolving the Stack he made with Create into a full-fledged track in Ableton Live.
“My own musical journey started with play, and if it weren’t for the first naive and joyful experiences I had with the violin, turntables, samplers, and loopers, I wouldn’t be doing what I do today—making music and building tools for making music,” Tim tells us. “I’ve always found tools that start with a tactile and rewarding first experience and reveal more nuance and depth over time are the most rewarding. I try to capture this spirit with everything I work on, and I feel this spirit is very much alive in what Splice offers, so I’m excited to connect the dots.”
“I spend a lot of time thinking about how music is today compared to how it’s been for its 40,000-year history. For most of this time, music was something we came together to do, at the same time in the same place. It was only in the last couple of hundred years that we separated content from creativity and turned it into a product to consume. It’s such a tiny blip in a long history. I always wonder how we can use all of the amazing technology that’s been developed in the last couple of hundred years to reimagine music as something we play together, rather than a product we consume alone.”
